We are so excited to launch a new year of STEAM at Community School. The goal of STEAM is to provide an integrated approach to learning that intentionally connects multiple disciplines (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) into a series of monthly lessons. It also provides the students an opportunity to inquire, collaborate and explore process and project-based learning.

The parent run classes will be be held on the last Monday of the month with a few exceptions. We are asking for volunteers to be at school from 1-3 pm as a classroom lead or in a supportive role. Please join us for this much loved Community School activity.

This year’s festival promises to be an exciting event filled with games, crafts, and community spirit. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to come together, celebrate the season, and create lasting memories. The fall festival will be held on Thursday October 31 at Community School.

Here’s how you can get involved:

Volunteer: We need enthusiastic volunteers to help with various activities, from setting up and decorating, leading fun-filled activities and much more. Your support makes a huge difference!

Participate: Bring your festive spirit and support and join in on the fun.

Art program is starting and we are excited to share our inspiration with our kids and with you!

Parent Choice is a CS tradition where YOU have the opportunity to design and teach an activity to a small group of interested students.  This is your chance to bring your unique knowledge to the school and at the same time build lasting connections with students, teachers, and CS parents.

If leading isn’t for you, but still want to be involved, sign up to be a volunteer!  Volunteers support the lead and assist students in learning. Parent choice classes can be on variety of topics such as Science, crafts, sports, art, coding, engineering and music. We have some supplies in storage as well as an allocation of funds from the Parent Group.

Let's show our wonderful teachers and staff some extra appreciation throughout the school year! If you would like to participate, please sign up to bring something special of your choosing. Some ideas could include: flowers, favorite Starbucks drinks, bakery treats, fun snacks or drinks for the staff lounge, lunch delivery, handwritten notes / pictures from your child, etc. It doesn't have to be elaborate or expensive to make an impact.

Please include enough for at least our 5 regular downstairs staff (Veronique, Marissa, Maddie, Deb, and Jean). If you want to include Jacob or specialists, you may! This is outside of our normal staff appreciation week and budget, so this would be at your own expense and is completely optional. Feel free to sign up with another family if you'd like to pool resources.

It's that time of year! The kids will be making gingerbread houses on the last day of school before winter break. We need parents to purchase/collect and prepare materials in advance of the big day. We also need parents to volunteer in the classrooms during the event and help with cleanup afterward. Please take a look at the list and choose a role that works for you!

If you have any questions about the roles, please don't hesitate to ask. You can also look at this document which contains more details based on previous years' events: Gingerbread Houses Notes
